What to expect: Set on 30 acres, San Luis Resort shares the grounds with the privately owned San Luis condominiums and the Galveston Island Hilton. Facilities, however, are not shared. Most amenities are available year-round, while some--such as the pool bar and kids club--have seasonal closures. Entry to the hotel is through a 4,000-square-foot, glass-enclosed promenade with seating areas.

Amenity highlights: A 50-ton rock waterfall empties into the heated grotto spa tub and oceanfront pool with swim-up bar and rental cabanas. A 45-foot custom waterslide leads into a separate side pool with lush tropical plantings.

The resort spa offers treatments that include the Coco-Mango Body Polish and Aloe Cucumber Cocoon. Treasure Island Kids Club is available year-round on weekends. Dining options include a dinner-only steakhouse and a casual café.
